Terms of service
TERMS OF SERVICE
Last updated: 17 July 2026
1. ABOUT THESE TERMS
These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of the Solawen website, online store, products, content and related services.
The terms “Solawen”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to:
Lee Coxon trading as Solawen
8 Elmwood Grove
Whitley Bay
NE26 1LU
United Kingdom
Email: hello@solawen.studio
Solawen operates this store through Shopify, which provides the ecommerce platform that enables us to offer our products and services to you.
By accessing our website, creating an account or placing an order, you agree to these Terms together with the policies referred to in them.
Please read these Terms carefully before using the website or placing an order.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any statutory rights that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded under the laws applying to you.
2. RELATED POLICIES
The following policies form part of these Terms:
Privacy Policy:
https://solawen.com/policies/privacy-policy
Returns, Refunds and Cancellations Policy:
https://solawen.com/policies/refund-policy
Shipping Policy:
https://solawen.com/policies/shipping-policy
Where there is a conflict between these Terms and a mandatory right provided by applicable consumer law, the mandatory legal right will apply.
3. ELIGIBILITY AND ACCOUNTS
You must be at least 18 years old, or have reached the legal age required to enter into a binding contract where you live, to place an order.
You agree that the information you provide to us is accurate, complete and current.
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for activity carried out through your account.
Please contact us promptly if you believe your account has been used without permission.
We may suspend or restrict an account where reasonably necessary to protect customers, Solawen, Shopify or other users from fraud, misuse, unlawful activity or security threats.
4. OUR PRODUCTS
Solawen offers artworks, fine-art prints, framed prints, homeware and other creative products.
Many products are made to order by specialist fulfilment partners after an order is placed. Production methods, materials, dimensions, finishes, fulfilment locations and estimated production times may vary by product.
We take reasonable care to describe and display our products accurately. However:
- colours may appear differently depending on your screen, device and display settings;
- measurements may vary slightly within reasonable manufacturing tolerances;
- product positioning, cropping, borders and mounts may vary slightly to suit an artwork’s aspect ratio;
- natural materials, including wood, may contain variations in colour, grain and appearance;
- product images placed in room settings may be illustrative and may not represent exact scale.
These reasonable variations do not affect your rights where goods are faulty, damaged, incorrectly supplied or materially different from their description.
Product specifications, availability and designs may be updated or withdrawn. Changes will not affect an order we have already accepted unless we agree the change with you or it is required by law.
5. PLACING AN ORDER
When you submit an order, you are offering to purchase the selected products under these Terms.
You must review the following carefully before completing checkout:
- the chosen artwork;
- product type;
- dimensions;
- frame or finish;
- quantity;
- delivery address;
- contact information;
- total price;
- delivery charge.
After receiving your order, we will send an electronic acknowledgement or confirmation.
An order is accepted when we confirm that it has been accepted or begin processing it for fulfilment, unless we tell you otherwise.
We may decline or cancel an order before fulfilment where reasonably necessary, including where:
- payment has not been authorised;
- a product or component is unavailable;
- information on the product or price contained a clear error;
- the delivery address cannot be serviced;
- we reasonably suspect fraud, abuse or unlawful activity;
- accepting the order would breach applicable law or platform rules.
If we cancel an order after taking payment, we will refund the amount paid for the cancelled product.
6. MADE-TO-ORDER PRODUCTION
Most Solawen products enter production specifically in response to an order.
Please contact us immediately if you notice an error or wish to request cancellation.
We will try to stop or amend an order before production begins, but this cannot be guaranteed because fulfilment may start automatically or very quickly.
A product being made to order does not automatically remove any cancellation or return right provided by applicable law.
Products made to your individual specifications or clearly personalised for you may be excluded from ordinary change-of-mind cancellation rights where the law permits. Further information appears in our Returns, Refunds and Cancellations Policy.
7. PRICES AND PAYMENT
Prices are displayed in the currency selected for your market or shown at checkout.
The total payable amount will be displayed before you place the order.
Unless clearly stated otherwise, delivery charges are calculated separately and shown during checkout.
Depending on the delivery country, customs duties, import taxes, handling charges or other local charges may apply. Where these are not collected during checkout, they may be charged by the relevant authority or carrier and will normally be the customer’s responsibility.
We may change product prices at any time, but a change will not affect an order already accepted.
Promotional offers, discount codes and sale prices may have separate conditions. Unless stated otherwise:
- promotions cannot be combined;
- discount codes have no cash value;
- a promotion may be withdrawn or amended before an order is placed;
- statutory rights remain unaffected.
Payments are processed through payment providers made available by Shopify, including Shopify Payments and PayPal where offered.
You confirm that you are authorised to use the payment method provided.
8. SHIPPING AND DELIVERY
Products may be produced and dispatched from different fulfilment locations. An order containing different product types may arrive in separate parcels.
Production and delivery times shown on the website are estimates unless we expressly guarantee a particular date.
We are responsible for delivering the goods within the period required by applicable law and any delivery commitment expressly agreed with you.
Delays may occasionally occur because of customs processing, carrier disruption, weather, public holidays, supply problems or events outside our reasonable control. Where a material delay occurs, we will provide information and any remedy required by applicable law.
Unless you independently arrange your own carrier outside the delivery options offered by us, the goods remain at our risk until they are received by you or by a person you identify to receive them.
Please see our Shipping Policy for estimated production and delivery times, tracking information, international deliveries and delayed or lost parcels:
https://solawen.com/policies/shipping-policy
9. INSPECTION AND DELIVERY PROBLEMS
Please inspect your order as soon as reasonably possible after delivery.
Contact us promptly if an item is:
- damaged;
- defective;
- misprinted;
- incorrect;
- incomplete;
- materially different from its description;
- missing despite tracking information.
We may request photographs of the product, packaging and shipping label so that we can investigate the issue with the fulfilment partner or carrier.
Reporting an issue promptly helps us resolve it efficiently, but a voluntary reporting period does not reduce any statutory rights you may have.
Further instructions are contained in our Returns, Refunds and Cancellations Policy:
https://solawen.com/policies/refund-policy
10. RETURNS, CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS
Returns, cancellations, exchanges, damaged products, lost shipments and refunds are governed by our Returns, Refunds and Cancellations Policy:
https://solawen.com/policies/refund-policy
Where applicable law provides a right to cancel an online purchase, that right remains available subject to any lawful exceptions.
For an ordinary change-of-mind return, you may be responsible for the direct cost of returning the product where permitted by law and where we disclosed this responsibility before purchase.
You will not be charged return postage for an accepted claim involving goods that are faulty, damaged, incorrect or not as described.
Do not send a product to the address printed on its original parcel unless we have confirmed that address. Products are fulfilled from different locations, and we must provide the correct return instructions.
11. PRODUCT AVAILABILITY AND ERRORS
We try to ensure that product descriptions, prices, delivery details and other information are accurate.
Occasionally, information may contain an error or omission.
Where we discover an error before accepting an order, we may correct it and ask whether you wish to proceed.
Where we discover an obvious pricing or description error after an order is submitted, we may cancel the affected order and provide a refund, provided doing so is lawful and fair in the circumstances.
We will not use this provision to avoid an order merely because the product later becomes less profitable to supply.
12. PERSONAL USE AND RESELLING
Products sold through the store are generally intended for personal use, gifts, interior display or other lawful private use.
You must not purchase products using automated systems, false identities, fraudulent payment methods or other means intended to disrupt the store or circumvent purchasing limits.
Commercial resale is not permitted without our prior written agreement.
Please contact us at hello@solawen.studio regarding trade, licensing or commercial enquiries.
13. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
Unless otherwise stated, the artworks, photographs, product designs, branding, logos, written content, videos, audio, graphics and other original material displayed through Solawen are owned by or licensed to Lee Coxon trading as Solawen.
Purchasing a physical product does not transfer copyright, reproduction rights, commercial licensing rights or any other intellectual-property rights in the artwork.
You may use purchased physical products for ordinary personal display and enjoyment.
Without prior written permission, you must not:
- reproduce or commercially exploit an artwork;
- create or sell copies or derivative products;
- download or extract high-resolution product images;
- remove ownership or copyright notices;
- use Solawen branding in a way that suggests endorsement or affiliation;
- republish substantial website content for commercial purposes.
Nothing in these Terms prevents fair dealing, fair use or any other use permitted by applicable copyright law.
“Shopify” and associated Shopify branding belong to Shopify or its licensors.
14. CUSTOMER CONTENT, REVIEWS AND FEEDBACK
You may be able to submit reviews, comments, photographs, suggestions or other content.
You retain ownership of content you create.
By submitting content for publication through Solawen, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce, format and display that content for the purposes of:
- operating the store;
- displaying reviews;
- responding to customer feedback;
- promoting Solawen and its products.
This licence continues only for as long as reasonably necessary for those purposes, subject to applicable law and any rights you may have to request removal.
You confirm that submitted content:
- is truthful to the best of your knowledge;
- does not infringe another person’s rights;
- does not contain unlawful, abusive or malicious material;
- does not include confidential information you are not entitled to disclose;
- does not contain malware, spam or deceptive links.
We may moderate or remove content where reasonably necessary, including content that is unlawful, irrelevant, fraudulent, abusive or infringes another person’s rights.
We will not suppress a genuine review merely because it is critical.
15. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES AND LINKS
The website may include services, tools or links provided by third parties, including Shopify, payment providers, fulfilment partners, social-media platforms and carriers.
Some third-party services are necessary to process payments, fulfil orders, provide tracking or operate the website.
Your use of a separate third-party website may be governed by that third party’s own terms and privacy policy.
We are not responsible for unrelated third-party websites merely because the website contains a link to them.
Nothing in this section removes our responsibility for the actions of service providers where applicable law makes us responsible to you.
16. SHOPIFY’S ROLE
Solawen is powered by Shopify, which supplies the ecommerce platform used to operate the store.
Your purchase contract is with Lee Coxon trading as Solawen, not with Shopify.
Shopify may process information and provide technical, payment, security and ecommerce services in accordance with its own terms and privacy arrangements.
Nothing in these Terms creates a sales contract between you and Shopify for products sold by Solawen.
17. PRIVACY
We process personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy:
https://solawen.com/policies/privacy-policy
Because the store is hosted through Shopify, relevant information may also be processed by Shopify and other service providers needed to operate the store, process payments, fulfil orders, prevent fraud and provide customer support.
Please read the Privacy Policy for further information about:
- the information collected;
- why it is used;
- the legal bases relied upon where applicable;
- service providers and international transfers;
- retention;
- marketing choices;
- privacy rights;
- how to contact us.
18. ACCEPTABLE USE
You must not use the website or services:
- for an unlawful or fraudulent purpose;
- to infringe intellectual-property, privacy or other legal rights;
- to upload malicious code;
- to gain unauthorised access to an account or system;
- to scrape, overload or disrupt the website;
- to impersonate another person;
- to submit false payment or delivery information;
- to harass, threaten or abuse another person;
- to carry out chargeback, return or promotional abuse;
- to interfere with security or fraud-prevention measures.
We may restrict access or cancel affected orders where reasonably necessary to protect the store, customers or third parties.
Any action we take will remain subject to applicable law and legitimate consumer rights.
19. WEBSITE AVAILABILITY
We aim to keep the website available and accurate, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access at all times.
Access may occasionally be interrupted for maintenance, security updates, technical faults or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
We may modify or discontinue website features, provided this does not unlawfully affect an accepted order or an existing statutory right.
20. OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO CONSUMERS
We do not exclude or limit liability where doing so would be unlawful.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for:
- death or personal injury caused by negligence;
- fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
- breach of rights that cannot lawfully be excluded;
- faulty or misdescribed goods where applicable consumer law provides a remedy;
- any other liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
We are responsible for losses that are a foreseeable result of our breach of these Terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill.
We are not responsible for a loss that was not reasonably foreseeable when the contract was formed.
Our products are supplied principally for private and domestic use. Unless we have expressly agreed otherwise in writing, we are not responsible for business losses such as loss of profit, revenue, opportunity or business interruption resulting from consumer use of a product.
This section does not affect mandatory rights available under the law applying to you.
21. EVENTS OUTSIDE OUR REASONABLE CONTROL
We are not responsible for delay or failure caused by an event outside our reasonable control where we have taken reasonable steps to reduce its effects.
Such events may include severe weather, natural disasters, industrial disputes, transport disruption, customs delays, failures of essential networks, governmental action, conflict, epidemics or major supply-chain interruption.
We will contact affected customers where reasonably possible.
If an event causes a substantial delay, you may have a right to cancel or obtain another remedy under applicable law.
22. SUSPENSION OR TERMINATION
You may stop using the website at any time.
We may suspend or terminate access where you materially breach these Terms, misuse the website, threaten its security or engage in fraud or unlawful activity.
Termination will not affect:
- an accepted order unless it is lawfully cancelled;
- rights and liabilities that arose before termination;
- provisions intended to continue, including intellectual-property and liability provisions.
23. SEVERABILITY
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unlawful, invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be treated as modified to the minimum extent necessary or removed where modification is not possible.
The remaining provisions will continue to apply.
24. NO WAIVER
If we delay exercising a right or do not enforce a provision immediately, this does not mean that we have waived that right.
A waiver in one circumstance does not automatically apply in another circumstance.
25. TRANSFER OF THESE TERMS
You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our written consent, except where applicable law permits you to do so.
We may transfer our rights or obligations as part of a sale, restructuring or transfer of the business, provided this does not reduce your statutory rights.
26. GOVERNING LAW AND DISPUTES
These Terms and contracts formed through Solawen are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer living elsewhere, you may also benefit from mandatory protections provided by the law of your country or region. Nothing in these Terms removes those protections where they apply.
Consumers resident in England or Wales may bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales.
Consumers resident in Scotland, Northern Ireland, the European Union or another jurisdiction may be entitled to bring proceedings in the courts available to them under applicable consumer law.
We encourage you to contact us first so that we can try to resolve a concern fairly and promptly.

27. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
We may update these Terms to reflect changes to:
- the business;
- the website or services;
- fulfilment arrangements;
- technology;
- legal or regulatory requirements.
The latest version will be displayed on this page with its updated date.
Changes will not retrospectively remove rights relating to an order already placed.
Where required by law, we will provide appropriate notice of a material change.
28. ENTIRE AGREEMENT
These Terms, together with the policies referred to in them and any specific terms clearly shown before purchase, form the agreement between you and us regarding your use of the store and your order.
Nothing in this section excludes information or representations that applicable law treats as binding.
